6 signs you should replace your commercial kitchen countertops
#1. Your laminate counters are a decade old or more
Laminate is only supposed to last about ten years or so. If your laminate counters are older than that, you should consider new granite or quartz counters when budgeting for commercial office kitchen upgrades.
#2. Your counters are chipped, cracked, or gouged
All commercial business countertops are subject to damage over time with normal wear-and-tear. Laminate countertops are susceptible to damage from knives or other sharp kitchen implements, as well as delamination over time, while granite countertops can be chipped or cracked by heavy impact.
#3. Your counters are out of style
While perfectly serviceable, laminate countertops went out of fashion about 15 years ago. Granite and quartz give your kitchen an elegant, timeless look that will last for decades.
#4. Your counters look dirty even when they’re not
You’re probably already aware of the value of first impressions, so this is particularly important when your counters are visible to customers, i.e., at front of store. Regardless of what it’s made of, a countertop that’s especially speckled could give the impression of being dirty even when you employ impeccable cleanliness standards.
#5. Your counters are stained or burned
While you may use the most diligent methods you can think of to remove a stain or a burn mark, if you cannot do so, you may need to replace your commercial kitchen counters. While they may not impede your work, these telltales also reflect badly on your business, giving an impression of carelessness or negligence.
#6. Your counters have water damage
When countertop laminate has been punctured by a sharp implement, water can get into the crack or crevice. The water can seep under the laminate and cause it to bubble.
